Micah Hovda

Chief Preconstruction Director Vaughn Construction

Micah started his professional construction career in 1998 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Science. He decided during his studies that an estimating career better fit his skillset and joined Manhattan Construction’s preconstruction team in Dallas, TX right out of college. Micah’s estimating experience includes healthcare, higher education, K-12, and office buildings navigating through various delivery methods. Micah currently serves as the Chief Preconstruction Director for Vaughn Construction – a Texas based construction firm focused primarily on healthcare and higher education – where he has spent more than half of his career. As the chief preconstruction director, Micah leads all phases of estimating included in preconstruction and serves as liaison with the client, design team, and key stakeholders. Micah also directs the efforts of other in-house preconstruction staff in developing schedules, reviewing documents for constructability, and generating cost reduction and value-added ideas throughout the preconstruction period. He assesses market conditions with regard to labor and material availability, evaluates the resulting impacts on construction pricing, and works to build solid relationships with trade contractors to facilitate optimum bidding of projects.
